Chairman: Dr. Willie Smits
Hello, my name is Dr.Ir. Willie Smits. I have been elected as chairman of the Masarang Foundation in 2007 to take over from my wife of 27 years, Linneke (Syennie) Watoelangkow, who was elected vice mayor of the city of Tomohon and therefore had to release all her positions in other organizations. I was born in The Netherlands 50 years ago but am now Indonesian and have lived and worked here for almost 30 years in the field of forestry and nature conservation. I was a former personal advisor to the Indonesian Minister of Forestry, team leader of the tropical forestry research project “Tropenbos” and I am the founder of the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (www.orangutan.or.id ), first director of the Schmutzer Primate Center , Director of the Gibbon Foundation. My lifelong goal is to save as much as possible from our global environment for future generations by providing real life examples of harmonious living in balance with nature. I also believe that we cannot save the environment if we do not simultaneously take care of the people's needs. Syennie and I have three sons, and live in the beautiful and cool tropical mountain village of Tomohon .

Secretary: Jantje Pemba
My name is Jantje Pemba and I am 63 years old and I am the foundation's secretary. I worked for a social church organization for 33 years where I worked in auditing and other administrative tasks. I really like working with all the young people in our organization, where I can put my professional experience to good use and educate the next generation. I have a wife (Tineke Polii) and two children (Henrie and Ronnie) and I live in Tomohon. I have also worked in the Nurani Foundation, a foundation dedicated to helping the less fortunate people in our society. I think our foundation is very exceptional, especially in Indonesia, because it is so open, transparent and democratic and that we really make a difference of the farmers we are supporting, not working to make a profit for ourselves. I feel very happy that I can utilize the remaining good years I have for the benefit of our environment and our people. Thank you.

Treasurer: Efradus Taroreh
Hello, my name is Efradus Taroreh and I am one of the founders of the Masarang foundation. Before joining the foundation I worked as a professional journalist since 1969, a job I still occasionally do until today. I am specialized in environmental reporting as a journalist but at the foundation I work as the director of finance. I am very proud that during all the audits I was proven to be able to fulfill the highest international standards for our financial administration. Besides that I am also active in various other social organizations in North Sulawesi . My wife (Anna Mamuaya), who was the principal of the Tomohon primary school before her retirement, as well as my three daughters (Yvonne, Joyce and Vike) are very supportive of my work with the foundation. I am 63 years old, but every week we go with a group of our staff climbing mountains, so I think I am still fit to help this foundation a few more years. Our foundation is great because it has no secrets and really works for the people in an honest and transparent way.
